Guest guest Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I've actually tried doing a search to see if anyone has made such an item, but came up empty! (If someone has ever seen such an item for sale somewhere, please let us know where, with url or any other information!)Instead of me having to zip tie multiple LED strands together of single colors to make a multi-channel LED light (or even incandescent for that matter) string, I wish some commercial entity would make them for us! It would save a lot of time during display set up and take down.Just like the lights they make with the 8 or 16 channel "motion" controlers built on them, how about removing the controller and make the strings with multiple dongles? This way I just have to plug in each color set from a light string instead of having to spend hours trying to line up and center seperate light strings to make such an item.C'mon you commercial folks, how about it? Start making some multiple dongle light strings for us LOR users, it would make doing our displays a lot easier and and save us a lot of time too! At least in my opinion!Anyone else think this would be a good idea? And would you purchase (a) set(s) constructed like this?I know *I WOULD!!!*
rgardner518 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I have a place that does it now for me. But if I where so sell them, I'm sure it would not be cheap! I buy them from a local place that does just what you described. All I have to do is unroll them and plug in each set! They use spiral cable wrap to wrap the let sets. They do as many sets as you went. I have them do 5 colors for me. Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and White. For a 100ct set of 5 strands banded together, it cost me $50, per set, with shipping and all. But I know the guy, so he gives me a deal. Attached files
Guest guest Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Hmmm, spiral cable wrap. Interesting, never thought about using that, always use zip ties and that just (too me) doesn't keep the wires as uniform. Looks like I'm going to need to take a trip over to Sky Craft and see if they sell the spiral wrap on spools and how much. May check on-line first to get an idea if they have it, then go by the store and see what they might have there, especially since not everything they sell is posted on-line!EDIT: Yes, they sell it at .35¢ per foot with a 15' minimum order On-Line ($5.25¢ per 15') and have them in a limited colors too: Black, White and Clear. Can be found here for those interested:http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/spiralwrap12inchdiametersoldbythefoot.aspx(No minimum when bought in the store{when/if available}, only on-line.)Looks like I may be taking a trip to Skycraft soon....
