Nurples
I just completed my first CTB16 board... It was fun, but I've got a few left over parts. I'm a mechanic, so I'm use to having extra parts when I'm done putting things together. I didn't think this was a problem until I saw that one of the extra parts was the transformer. Opps! Had to remove one of the heat sinks in order to install it.I did make another noob mistake when I was installing the voltage regulators... put one in the wrong spot. Thank got for solder suckers! It was still a pain in the butt removing it even with a solder sucker.I'll be testing this board tonight. Hope it goes well.Oh... and for all you guys that surf the forums and sequence at work... How many can say they build boards at work? haha...
Guest guest
Good luck with the controller....yea, you'll notice it performs better with the transformer installed..I work from home about the half the time, and so would have to admit to once or twice taking a short stress-relief board assembly break... Nurples
Well, I'm deployed to afghanistan with the US Army right now... My job requires me to do about 10 minutes of actuall work... the rest is just supervising Soldiers. So, it was either play games on my computer or build a board.I think we all agree that I made the right choice here.

I have a son-in-law in the Army who is going to be deployed soon. He spent two years in Korea, now who knows where? Thanks for all your service, keeping us safe, and allowing freedom for others. You are my hero!

Nurples
Thanks everyone...I never know what to say when someone says "Thanks for your service". How do you say thanks to someone who is thanking you? To me, it's just a job. I've been doing it for about 13 years and am currently on my 6th deployment. People say things like "Thanks for your sacrifice" but I don't feel it's a sacrifice at all. I got it, it's a lot of time away from my family, home, and all... but to me, it's a lifestyle that I've been doing since I was 18 so it's normal for me to be away. Now, I'm 100% sure my wife and kids don't feel the same way I do. They deserve the thanks way more than I do!And now that I have this addicting hobby, I think I'm gonna need more time at home somehow... haha 7 more years of this and I can retire! I can't wait... Then maybe I can get a job at LOR!!!
