The Christmas Enthusiasts Prayer

I came across this tonight and thought that I would share

The Christmas Enthusiast Prayer

As I untangle strings of Christmas lights, Lord help me to remember that I do this first to honor You. Never let me get so prideful of my display that I fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child or the joy on the faces of those who are still children at heart. Never let me forget that my total effort is to make Christmas memories, bring cheer and to slow down the pace of a hectic season, if only for a moment, and focus on the true meaning of Christmas. And Lord, someday when I meet you face to face, I pray that I may hear you say:

“When you made My people smile, you made Me smile.”
amen

When I wonder about all the challenges in preparing, setting up, and tearing down, - I remember my very first year some years back now - I had built a Marty Reindeer, and that was the key element in our show. I was sitting at my desk in my man cave working on "Yes, another sequence" while the show was running outside, and heard some giggling and laughter from little people - then it got quiet, and a little girl figured out what was going on and she yelled out with a kind of a southern drawl "THE REINDEER IS SINGING THE SOOONG !" I proceeded to go back out and hand out more candy to everyone.

I hear that little voice in my head and it reminds me of why we do what we do. Its for the giggles, the laughter, the memories.

I had a young couple tell me a few years ago that our show is now a must do for them, as he proposed to her while watching the show one night. ;)

I don't compete with anybody or anything - (except maybe myself), I just love that laughter and those memories. Watching my youngest granddaughter point to the yellow snow dogs and say "ON Papa ! ON! :D

Thank you Bwhitehead. My wife will appreciate the fact that the prayer lives on.

For those interested. If you do voice overs and have The DementedElf do them. Ask about the prayer.

My wife wrote that a few years back when we got back into doing our display.

Thanks Jerry,

I know not long after Mira wrote that one of the members on PC wrote and asked her if he could use it in his display. He had Kevin record it and also sent it to Mira. Once Kevin discovered that Mira wrote it he apologized for doing without her permission and that with her permission would pass on as a free voice over for those that wanted. I was not aware it was available all the time.

I am a bit confused, the Demented Elf version is nothing like the one in post one of this thread. Which one is correct?

Make sure you give the author credit. Mirra Moore wrote that over on PC.

Sorry I would have done that but I didn't know who wrote it.

thank you for that prayer it sums up why a lot of us do it. Last year was my first year with lor and for the first time I had several people watching my display on christmaseve and I was so glad that I could be a part of that. And this prayer really rings true.

Guys,

I just showed my wife (Mira) this thread. She reminded me that she actually wrote 2 prayers and they were posted under Faith forum on PC.

Chuck
Tell her thank you, it is very appropriate and says it all.
