bobschm Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I assume strobes are self firing i.e. turn them on full and stand back. But if they are all one the same string, will they fire in unison? Can that be prevented. I prefer the stadium full of random flashbulbs.Bob
Dave Batzdorf Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 My zenons are truely random, but the LEDs all start at the same time and then random. So I compensate the LED issue by turning them on at 20% for about 2-5 seconds before i really want them to fire.
Surfing4Dough Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I second what Dave said. Xenon strobes are instantly random and should always be used at 100% on, and xenons have a lot of "pop" to them when they flash. LED strobes will stay in sync for the first several seconds. Some people do seem to find if they pre-charge them as Dave suggested that that helps speed up the random firing effect. Some people have found that the LED ones don't have as much pop and have read some even describing them as just "blinking" rather than "strobing." Haven't seen them myself so can't attest to that.
George Simmons Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 LED strobes only look good when viewed from straight on the end of the lens. When viewed from the side they look like a blinking light. Been there, did that... don't waste your money - buy xenon tube models.
