JHolmes Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Hello!I have a gate that can be opened in one of three ways:1) Infrared Remote2) Instant Release Button3) Hold ButtonOptions 1 and 2 open the gate for a certain amount of time, after which the gate closes automatically.Option 3 keeps the gate open until the button depresses.I don't know what would happen if I held down the infrared remote for a long period of time.Thoughts? The gate is down a bit from the actual show and some of the buttons are wired into the house.Thanks!

tomskillman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Hello. It sounds to me like what you want to do is use option 2 - when you press the button, the gate opens, person comes through, gate closes. So...my suggestion would be to use a DIO32 ($150) with the 8 relay daughterboard ($86) OR....you could go cheaper ( and more DIY) with the ServoDog ($90) controlling a relay. In either case, NO contacts on a relay would connect to the 2 wires for the Button (in scenario #2). With the ServoDog, the Coil of the relay would connect to an output. You would likely have to use a SSR due to the power restrictions of the ServoDog.
