ogamoga Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 So I am planing either a 10 or 15 foot mega tree and I'm going to do it in two colors green and cool white. I am also going to stick with leds. So with the tree im planing im going to need 12 strands of lights that are between 18 and 25 feet long for each color so thats 32 strands total. Im not sure what kinda of lights so im open to sugestions all though to my knoladge I think most people use minis. My only problem is cost...im on a limited budget and I need strands as cheap as possible like between 5 and 10 dollers. I know im asking for a lot but if I cant find leds cheap enough I might just have to go with one color...so if any one could help me out that would be great
Ron Amedee Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 LED's for that price are cheaply made and you may get a season or two out of them. If power is not a concern you can find incandecents for a third of the cost. Do what you gotta do this year and build from there. The Mega displays you see are not first year things..crawl then walk then run !!!!
Max-Paul Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 ogamoga,I think I have caught a math error. 12 strands each color and you are only going to have two colors. Would that not be 24 strands? Or did I miss something? I agree, you are not going to find LEDs for 5 to 10 bucks a strand. Might have been real close if you had decided on this at the first of the year when everyone is having their pre-buy ordering. I think that some of the CDI strings were close to the 10 or 12 bucks for maybe 50 ct. 50 ct would put you in the 18' range. So, looks like it more than likely will be ican minis for this year.BTW I have seen different bulb shapes in LEDs used and I am going to go with the C6 lenses.
ogamoga Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Ok on the number your correct I originally put 16 strands of each but then changed it to 12 so it should be 24...I want to stay with LEDs because I'm actually trying to keep an all led display...and I do know that the prices were kinda low I just got thoes prices because that is what they are at ace 5 and target 8 on sale right before Christmas...What I ask now is can you give me links to websites that have good LEDs but are too expensive...I looked at cdi but for most of the lights, you have to buy them by the cause...oh also if this helps I dont need the lights right away as this would be a summer project...right now I'm working on something with rainbow wall runners. ThanksBen

ThanksBenA case of lights from CDI is 12 strings. So if you were buying 12 strings of Red and 12 strings of Green, sounds perfect to me.
ogamoga Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Does anyone know if CDI is haveing another sale before Christmas. Also what is the normal savings from the sale. And if there isn't any more sales is there any way I can still get a deal

UPS scheduled to deliver to me this Wednesday.I have seen Paul have a sale in July, but the prices were nowhere near as good as the Jan preorder. Why don't you contact Paul at CDI and see what he might be able to do.
