netbook advice

Hello All,

As a relative newbie, I am looking to purchase a used netbook computer running XP to run my LOR system. Any suggestions, with minimum system recommendations? I ran the show from the XP partition on my Macbook Pro this year, which worked fine, but I want an inexpensive fulltime hookup so I can run the show (my Disneyland train layout) without prep for visitors and the neighborhood kids. I'll still use the Macbook Pro for show creation and editing.

Cheers,
Don

Hi Don,

Almost all netbooks have the same atom cpu and 1 gb of ram.
The Specs say you need at least a 500 mhz, and 128 ram so you should be fine.

If it was me, I'd leave the netbook offline and remove any / all extra programs that the OEM pre-loaded including the antivirus. This would mean that you would need to use a USB thumb drive to load the software and sequences, but you will get a good amount more speed out of the computer without antivirus running.

If you can't get one with XP then I would recommend 2gb ram just to help compensate for the slow CPU.

I used my netbook last year and it worked great. I just had to download the lor program off of the web. It also has XP. I believe it is an acer aspire one with 1 gb of ram. i also have itunes on it and can do all of my new sequences on it with no problem.
