On Tuesday my dad had open heart surgery....double value replacement. at 82 years old, and with other health problems this surgery had to be done right away, as a lot of you know he’s been sick for a long time now, I’ve talked about him a few times and even dedicated last year’s display to him and set it up and sequenced all his favorite songs, to say the least he’s my best friend next to my wife. Well, I wanted to tell everyone.... He made it through the surgery, and is on the road to recovery. Not only did my dad beat the odds but, he has not taken ANY pain medicine! After sleeping for 24 straight after the surgery he woke of and asked when he could go home. My family and I were told by the sergeant, that the first 24 hours were critical and he would not do much other then sleep......well those doctors have never met MY DAD! Not only after sleeping 24 hours did he wake up, but he got into a chair! And later that day, with the doctors in front of him, he demanded to start walking. the doctors said there was no way one day after his kind of surgery a person could do that, my dad turned his head and said if you would just let me I will show you I can, he told the doc's he had no pain at all....I thought to myself wow, that’s my dad! So the doctor said to three nurses’ help him up. now remember one day out of open heart surgery mind you, not only did he get up, he walk not just around his room, he walked the entire hospital floor...........TWICE! He wanted to go again and the sergeant said he had to stop. so today they took my dad out of the heart attack icu unit and put him in a privet room, the staff and doctors well I can’t thank them enough, I’ve got my dad back, it’s been about 6 years now that he’s been fighting his heart problem. the doctor also said prior to surgery this should put him at the point he was before all the problems started but after all the great things that happened yesterday and today he said to day this kind of response is a one in a million, he personally said he’s never seen anything like it, and thinks he might even start him on rehab after just 7 days if all keeps going as well as he is. I’m up loading a photo I took the morning he woke up right after surgery. He’s amazing! No sorry,,,,,,he’s my Dad!

Thanks everyone

That is amazing. My Dad just had open heart surgery for valve replacement 10days ago too! He is only 51, he was born with this condition at birth, but it was still a sudden surgery. He was not even on this pace! That is truly amazing and awesome. Hope all continues well from here on.
