scubado Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 When installing elements on roof, do you guys take any precautions for lightning? Has anyone have their display hit?
edvas69 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 No precaustions, just like I have no precautions with my TV antenna, if I get hit it will cause a lot of damage. This then should be covered by my home insurance i would expect.
PaulXmas Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I wanted to have Santa and his reindeer on my roof.By the time summer rolled around I still could not figure out how to:1) Secure the wireframes and protect them from wind.2) How to clear the snow (climbing a ladder in the dry summer scares me).3) How to repair the lights if something goes wrong. So I decided to string everything between 2 poles (wire frames are 5lbs each = 45lbs plus say 10 for the sleigh total 55lbs) forgot abot the cable and wire that must have weighed 50lbs.There was a little bending but it worked. Next year I use guy wires "BEFORE" hoisting up everything Attached files
