Need help finding a SPT2 wire supplier

Greetings All,

I'm sure I'm not alone starting to plan for my 2011 show.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a SPT2 wire supplier

http://www.skycraftsurplus.com only has white right now. ($100/1000') I'd prefer black, brown or green.

I also requested a quote from americord.com but haven't heard back from them

I probably need 5000 ft along with male and female connectors.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks,

Tony

tonyski,

Skycraft has spt1 in black, if your going to use leds thats all you need, and it's also lighter, easyier to roll up and store. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reply. Sometimes I get caught up in bigger is better and forget about the KISS principle. Almost everything I'll need is very low amperage. SPT1 would probably be just fine.

Do you have any regrets about using SPT1? Any durability issues?

I guess that depends on where you live. I think SPT2 has a thicker insulation, 1 and 2 are either 16 or 18 gauge. I may be wrong on this but, SPT3 has the UV inhibitor in it. I use SPT1 from Skycraft and got my ends from Home Depot on line, they only offer them in about Oct or Nov I beleive.

tonyski,

I have no regrets about spt1 I just wish someone would have told me about it sooner. I have about half and half but wished it were all spt1 due to the weight,

Well thanks all. I got a pretty good deal at skycraftsurplus. I decided to go with spt1 instead.

I thought I'd need 5000', started calculating and figured 8500', ordered 10,000'

40 roll discount for 250' rolls made it $20 per roll. I'm pretty happy w/ $.08 per foot
even with shipping it works out to $.09

I ordered the male and female ends for $.45 each from some guy that was closing out his lighting business on ebay.

Now I need to get busy!

In COLD weather, as we get in Ontario Canada would SPT1 wire survive the cold or would it be better to go with SPT2 with the thicker insulation ?!

I went with the SPT2 last year but probably need another 1,000 ft at least this year !

Thanks,

Dave

I live 200 miles north of you and used SPT1 with no problems just be a little more gentle with it .I'll be using some more come next winter

Just my two cents!!
