Bob Wingert
Was LOWER than it was last year December. In 2009 we had about 3 or 4,000 incandecant lights static display. This year we were animated, 15,000 LED's.Lower bill. Only by a few dollars but its still lower and with a heck of alot more lights.I was kinda worried in a way, especially when I saw the bill yesterday. Our appliances and heat are natural gas. Just comparing electric to electric

Just comparing electric to electricTypically, my December bill has been about $50 more than it would have been outherwise, due to the incandescent light load... about 44000 until this year, and about 25000 this year. Remember... many of the lights tend to be OFF at a given time when running sequences.D.T.
taybrynn
I used a TED5000 power monitor this year and the power changed wildly during the shows. You would be amazed how LITTLE power is used on average. When I took pictures, I ran a more static sequence and the power use was so much higher, its insane. So I can see how the cost was less compared to static.

I'd explain to them that same thing that they are only on for a split second. I said the guy across the street is burning more energy than me right now, and he had just icicles on his house, steady burning. It is amazing. taybrynn
Yeah, (power use) its the thing we all hear, but its kind of easily misunderstood because the effect of the lights is so large.I was watching the show in real time and the TED wireless shows like $.40 to $.50 per hour normally ... and then during the show it was sitting anywhere from $.50 to $1.18 per hour depending on when you look ... but most of the time under $1.00 per hour.I pulled up a graph for the whole month and I think a hot tub would have consumed the same or more in a month.
