OregonLights Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks zman, I sure would like to go and am glad there's a "local" one around for us North Westerners! This would be my first conference. Could you provide some newbie info/description for me?P.S. why do they call it a "mini"?
jimswinder Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 zman wrote: We are polling on Planet Christmas for a Mini gathering date:Any chance of putting a poll here also for those who don't have a Planet Christmas account (or wish NOT to have one)?
zman Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 The term Mini comes from the larger Planet Christmas Lights Up Symposium (PLUS). The local regions started meeting, so they started call them Mini PLUS's, or now short, Mini.We meet, socialize, have workshops, swap meets, door prizes. In the NW we have had one for at least the past 5 years at Bill & Nancy Foley's in Lacey WA.Dates currently being bantered about are April 16th or 30th, and we will work on topics in a few weeks. You can check out last years at this site:http://www.christmasinkent.com/MiniPLUS2010.htmJust reply to this post with your date preference.
jimswinder Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 just bumping this post back to the first page...
OregonLights Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Thank you Mark.Escpecially nice to see the Agenda and material from last year."Planet Christmas Lights Up Symposium (PLUS). The local regions started meeting, so they started call them Mini PLUS's, or now short, Mini".May I be so bold as to say: leave it to the LOR guys to come up with such a complicated acronym for a conference? BTW, had a funny story from this last week. I was out of the area on business and found a guy on Craigslist with several LED C9 strings for sale. This LOR addiction pressed me to expand my light count. He worked the swing shift and it was difficult to arrange a meeting, so he said he'd come meet me at a local gas station in the evening during his "lunch" break. I swung buy with my colleagues on the way home from dinner. No Show...standing around in the parking lot like I was out for drugs or something. So now I have to suffer the ridicule of my co-workers for arranging a clandestine night-time meeting for christmas lights and didn't come out with any lights to show for it!
zman Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 I am updating this thread, Kevin Thomas and I met yesterday to discuss the meeting date and format. This was posted on PC:________________________________Greetings all.Mark and I have a big change for the Mini this tear. This will involve moving it to May. (shooting for May 14th)We hope this won't inconvenience anyone and that you will able to attend anyway. We are waiting from word from Bill to confirm but we wanted to give everyone a heads up as soon as we knew it wouldn't be in April.I'll start a new thread for topic ideas but I think you'll like what we've come up with so far.Till then,Kevin_______________________________________
Mark Showalter Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I see on the Planet Christmas site that May 14th is the official date for the Washington Mini. Can you tell me how to register and where it's being held, what to bring and anything else I missed? thanks!

jimswinder Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 zman wrote:Please suggest some topics you may be interested in hearing about, or even presenting yourself. Respond here or send me a PM so we can discuss via email1) Sequencing RGB lights (CCR's, CCB's, Floods, etc.)
Mark Showalter Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I wouldn't mind a tutorial on the LOR sequencing software. I continue to learn new things while sequencing. I'm always thinking there must be easier ways to create the same effects.
