Nurples Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Well, it took about 3 years of dreaming, but I've finally done it! I finally got my first controller. The military has kept me from joining this fine club you have here for a long time, but now I'm diving in. By October, I plan on having at least 96 channels. This is how it happened today... The mail clerk dropped off my mail. I read the box and got super excited like a kid at Christmas. I dropped everything I was doing and opened the box just to look at it and drool. I showed it off to all my co-workers. They thought I was crazy, of course. Then when I got back to my room (10x10) I just had to plug it in. I've got a few strands of lights here (in Afghanistan) that my wife had sent me. I plugged them in and played with the Hardware Utility software making them flash for a while. I plan on lining the hallway with some lights and making some kind of simple 16 channel sequence for fun. Maybe I'll record it for you all to see. Now I have to change my channel count from 0 to 16. Woohoo!Oh, and thanks for listening.
garyfunk Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Welcome to the club. It's fun dream what you can do and even more fun when you actually do it. This stuff was not around when I was active duty.Which branch and unit are you with? Have fun with it. If you need anything, just ask.
Nurples Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 I got the starter kit from wow-lights with the CTB16PC. I plan on getting a few kits that I can solder. It should help to pass some time out here. Plus I enjoy kits like that.I've been reading the forms for about a year now, so I know all the things to do... like buy ext cords! I've got 1,000 feet of spt1 cord with vampire plugs already. I have more worked into the budget over the year. Just wish LED's fit into the budget better. haha
