Editor Install Help

I am trying to install the sequence editor on a laptop. Compaq Evo N610C running XP Pro. During the install it get to a screen that says" Setup cannot continue because some of the system files are out of date. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you..." I do that, then reboot the laptop. Then I rerun install and get stuck at the same step. I can't get past here. Any ideas?
