Very new here so bear with me. What is the big difference between the "k" version and the "pc" kits. I bought the "K" version that has to be soldered together as i am a diy'er. Are they all compatible. I did a search and found basically a one word answer in that no they are not the same controller. Could someone explain? Thanks Chris

My vote is the CTB-16KD... http://store.lightorama.com/16chkitstwih1.html

Maybe overkill in some ways, but I like having all the same units. Also prefer the screw terminals, so any of the CTB-16Ks should have what you are looking for. You'll need to come up with your own enclosure solution, but thats not terribly difficult.

If you are a kit/project builder, reasonable soldering skills, you'll find LOR kits are a great enjoyment to build.

The K version is the board used in the Showtime (now being called Showtime Pro) controllers. So you might find more discussion on the difference between a Showtime controller and a PC (sometimes referred to as a Showtime PC or residential on LOR's website) controller (and obviously some things won't apply since you are using a kit and your own enclosure...i.e. showtime enclosure is metal, PC is plastic, etc.).

I use all PC controllers since I am running a musical show. Yes, all LOR products are compatible. (they all just connect to each other with cat5).

Good discussions on this topic:

Also a comparison chart here: http://www.lightorama.com/ShowtimePC.html
