Guest guest
I was just wondering do the controllers on the daisy chain have to be in numerical order starting at the pc or can they be located in any order. I would think the latter would be true but want to double check. Before I thought too deep about controller placement I made all of my sequences with the furthest from pc controller as the controller 01 and if I can avoid changing my sequences I would be happy. Guest guest
I believe you can have them in any order. I always like to keep them in order but the order does not matter.
Guest guest
Any order is fine. My order is different each year as my display changes.
Guest guest
To add to what people are saying:Yes, any order is fine. LOR will the commands to every unit connected. The units simply ignore commands that are not destined for it.
Guest guest
The only stipulation is that the first controller be less than 100' from the computer, if you are using computer control. From there they can be any distance.
Guest guest
And that is if you are using the SC485 adapter only.

Per an email conversation with Dan this past year ... LOR will have a USB->RS485 adaptor. This adaptor must be kept close to the PC as is true with all USB devices. The output (similar to the output of the SC485) will be connected to the controllers using CAT5 or phone cable as is done today. The distance limit of 100ft to the first controller does not apply with USB the distance can any length as long as you remain within the 2000' / 4000' range. Guest guest
Thanks, Darryl. I didn't realize this didn't apply to the USB adapter, since I don't use one. Good information.
