my rgb pixel wall

Finally the RGB led pixel wall is up and running. I am using Madrix to drive the pixels, and the plan is to add dome DMX channels to my LOR sequences to remotely control the Madrix software to switch between effects.

The video shows the wall cycling through some of my preset effects.

Right now I have 1600 pixels, 32 strings of 50. 8 more yet to go...... Unfortunately the rest of the display is waaaayyy behind schedule this year..........

Looks great! But I can only imagine what a nightmare that must be to program.

Believe it or not, that represents less than 8 hours of programming effort, and it only took that long because I was learning the software as I went along. There is no sequencing involved, in the normal sense that we think of it. Madrix, although ridiculously expensive, has some incredible built-in effects.

My plan is to define all of my effects in Madrix, then use DMX channels from within LOR to trigger Madrix to switch to the next effect at the appropriate time.

The strings I am using in this display are from Ray Wu on Alibaba. About 70 cents per pixel. The controllers are my own design. They use DMX over ethernet so they just plug into my LAN. Each controller can drive up to 16 42-pixel strings or 12 50-pixel strings.
