Hi All...

I currently use 7 CBT16PC controllers to run my father in laws Christmas Show. (Widmer-World.com) Several years back he purchased two Animated lighting boxes that we would like to incorporate in to the show. Is anyone familiar in how we can run them from the same software. Itis my understanding they use diffrent communication standards. Any help making this work would be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Animated Lighting and Light-O-Rama systems use different protocals, so that is no easy way to get them to work together.

One thing I would check out if you are really wanting to add them to your show, check out the Animated Lighting controllers and see if they will run through DMX. LOR controllers can run through DMX, and if the Animated Lighting controllers can run DMX, then that is the way you would have to run them.

If you choose to run you controllers like this, you have to keep a few things in mind. First of all, you controllers will become just a dimmer back. They will have have to cool effects that LOR has, things such as shimmer, twinkle, ramping shimmer, or ramping twinkle; all of those effects you would have to create in the software, the hard way.

The second thing to keep in mind, you will need to get an iDMX from LOR if you want to run anything in DMX with the LOR software. They run around $260. I think there might have been an update, but the last I knew, the iDMX could only run up to 256 channels, but that could have changed by now.

And finally, you will need to check the pin-outs of the LOR controllers and the Animated Lighting controllers. They might have different pin-outs, even if they are both running through DMX.

If this sounds complicated, send me a PM and I might be able to clear it up for you a little more.

Personally, if I were you, I would sell the Animated Lighting controllers and use that money to get some LOR controllers that will work perfectly with the rest of your system, but thats just me.

You could use Light Show Pro software and use both AL and LOR controllers on different networks.

You can run your AL and LOR controllers together with some modification. Go here, and send him an email. He can help you out. ; )
