Hey guys, need some suggestions for video software. My new camera records in Quicktime 1080p. My current programs don't work with it. I don't need anything fancy, basically need to mix sound track over the outdoor audio.

I have to kill the audio on the videofile and add the original sound track to the video. I don't have an FM transmitter yet to broadcast directly to the camera.

Will the video open with windows media player? If so, I have read before that you can use windows movie maker to remove the audio track and lay the original track back on it.

WMM 7 won't display the video. It loads the video and goes through the motion of playing it, but nothing in the display.

ZipZach, yes Windows media player plays it fine.

I downloaded a trial version of AVS video Editor, but it butchers the video, so that fades are choppy looking.

Try AVS4YOU (AVS4YOU.com). Short learning cycle, edit video, add, delete or replace audio very very easy and quick.

That's what I'm currently trying, but having issues with it. It's butchering my video. :)

Have you waited for WMM7 to optimize the video before trying to play it? I was doing that last night before I noticed the status bar in the lower left corner of the screen. Once I figured that out the video played just fine.

Yeah, I can edit now! :) I retried Windows Live Movie Maker to see if I needed an update and discovered that it needs to render the video with a statis indicator at bottom. I came back here to update you guys and noticed George's response saying the same thing. I will upload video's later, gotta go shopping now.

Thanks guys!

I use Cyberlink Powerdirector. It even has direct youtube and facebook uploading. Though I do most of my stuff with AVI/MPG, it does show that it loads MOV files.

Roxio 2009 works for me. The 2010 verson does blue ray editing and authoring, it lets you story board and set up, opening menu and other options to mak a dvd that will play in any dvd player.

600 bucks?? Really..am I missing something, that is a bit outrageous

I don't think it is outrageous for what it does. Sony Vegas Pro is a broadcast quality video and audio editing software. There are different versions that cost less. Be sides 600 is retail price. You can get it for much less. For a lot of people it is over kill. But remember you get what you pay for.

You don't mention the type of camera (DSLR, Camcorder, HD or AVCHD, etc.,,) but Adobe Premiere Elements 9 can work with virtually all of them. Lots of tools.

Price is under $100. It does really need a good video card and 4GB of system memory or it is sluggish. Works, but sluggish.
