Controller issue please help

I have a new CTB 08 I bought in the sale. It was a complete board that I wired up and put in a box. I haven't used it yet but am planning on using it now. So here is the problem.

I went in to change the unit id on the controller. When it was connected to the cat 5 the software cannot find it. It powers on and the light goes solid red when I plug in the cat 5.

I have verified it is not a cat 5 issue. I had 3 other controllers that I had to set ID's to and the cat 5 worked for the other 3. Not sure what the problem is and I am looking for suggestions.

I answered on PC: make sure this is the only unit on the network, and change "Any Unit" to your desired unit #. Then make sure "max units" is set high enough.

Tim that didn't work.

I have only this controller on the network. When I refresh it says no units found. I just set the id for 3 other untis before I did this one. Same PC and same cord. I don;t get it The 08 powers up, LED light on controller goes steady on when the cat 5 is connected but I still get "no units found."

Hmmmm...my 08's have dials.

So my only guess is that it has somehow been set at a very high address and the HU is still not set high enough to find it. Turn the max unit id to the very top and let it search again. It will take quite a while.

Fixed it. Feel pretty dumb. The unit did not come with a preset id of 1 (most 16's do) I guess 08's do not. Set new unit id and am in business. Again I feel stupid, this is like LOR 101. I am so used to the contollers coming preset I didn't even think.

Thanks for the assist Tim and Brian.
