Dave Batzdorf Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have been using LOR for 5 seasons now and have always put the intro and closer musical sequences right in the show. What would be the advantage or dis of using the start-up and shutdown features? Also, is there any advantage on using the background feature to turn on the Tune To? This is another item that I just factor into the sequence, though you do get the typical quick turn on/off when the sequences stop and start...Never really played with them. Any veteran comments (yea, opened myself up on that one!)....

Just another tool for you to use if you want to.With 5 seasons down, I'm sure you are very comfortable with the way you have been doing it......But, why not try it?It's mid-week, probably light traffic nights, try it and if you don't like it, change it back.
dstevens Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I use the background to turn on the "Tune To" sign. Avoids the quick on/off after each song. I also use the start-up and shutdown sequences also, but that is my personal preference.
Tim Fischer Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 The startup and shutdown tabs run once per scheduled time-block (e.g. if you schedule it from 5:30-10:00 in the scheduler, startup will happen at 5:30 and shutdown around 10:00 when the last song finishes). If you put it as the first and last sequence, it will happen every time the show loops, possibly many times a night. As of last year, I didn't use a startup tab sequence, and had a "thanks for stopping, the lights are now going off for the evening" type sequence in the shutdown. This year I might also be using some scripts (called by a sequence) that turn on my projector - need to get that ironed out in the next day or two.
Dave Batzdorf Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Thanks all for the response. I may try it for the signs and see what happens.Tim - I didn't pick that up about the start-up once per block. That's why we talk and ask questions.
