They won't be home with there families.
Sthunder69
The lyric is actually "War is over, if you want it, war is over now..."It was a protest song originally.S
Linda McDonald
My daughter is a "SERIOUS" Beatles fan. I asked her about this song and here is what she said:In late 1969 John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, rented billboards and posters in eleven cities around the world that read: "WAR IS OVER! (If You Want It) Happy Christmas from John and Yoko" to protest the Vietnam war. They didn't actually record the song Happy Xmas (War is Over) until 1971, the words the background vocals sung were taken directly from those billboards. Here's the words from the refrain:"A very merry ChristmasAnd a happy New YearLet's hope it's a good oneWithout any fear"We used this song this year as John Lennon would have been 70 years old on October 9. My daughter also insisted that we have Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime".
Sthunder69
I use both as well. I don't take issue with the message, though I am far from a war protester. It also plays right after A Soldier's Silent Night.S
