Show has hiccups

Recommended Posts

1st night of my 2010 show and my show has the hiccups. I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and Light-O-Rama v2.8.12 Advanced. At random places in my show the audio and the lights with have delays that sound like hiccups. I did some testing and this doesn't happen if I plug the lights into my laptop and run the show, but I need it to work from my desktop. This is the same computer I used last year. Any ideas?

This same problem occured on my PC a few nights ago. I was outside watching my show when I noticed the music on my outdoor speakers was stuttering. I ran inside to see what was going on. I noticed that my anti-vurus software was downloading an update. After the update everything returned to normal. So I unplugged the ethernet cable to the internet. Have not had the problem since. I've also disabled everything in my startup folder that's not necessary.

My AntiVirus is disabled and it I am still having the issue. I can't find anything running in the background. Nothing is installed on the computer except for Light-O-Rama and AntiVirus.

Does your hard drive come on during these hiccups? That is, does the drive light come on? Might try a defrag.

My thoughts exactly. Try defragler http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download
it's free, can be scheduled to run after hours and works very well.

I was having issues with 2.8.12 and did not want to take the time to figure it out so I went back to 2.7.6 and presto no more problems.

I am not convinced that they have all of the bugs worked out of this version. 2.8.12 does not like mp3 files.

Drive light only comes on for a second at the beginning of each song and the drive shows 0% fragmentation. I was using MP3 files so I switched them all to WAV files and the issue got worse. I did try running the show with my laptop and had no issues at first but then the same issue started happening. I am going to revert to an older version of LOR tomorrow and see what that does.

Had 0 issues last year.

Toddmoon, are the sequences backwards compatible if you saved them in 2.8.12 so they work with 2.7.6?

Or were your sequences the lower version?

I had desktop hardware issues and switched back to a laptop with 2.6. I saved each sequence, show file and schedule with the older version.

After that it was happy.

New versions will work on older versions. You will get a message that the file was created with a newer version and may not support some features. I have not had any issues going back and it has saved me from trying to figure out the issues with latest greatest version.
