Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0

I just finished putting most of my lights up tonight and decided i wanted to do a test run with my Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0. As it turns out there is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much static. Is there any way to reduce/eliminate the amount of static?

My house isnt too far away from the street so the distance the transmitter transmits is fine. but its just the static that is driving me crazy!!!!!

Any ideas on what to do???

Thanks

If your fm transmitter is off and you dial a fm radio to the station you are using, are you hearing anything or is it a frequency not being used at all?

It could be that there is a current radio station on that frequency. I used an empty frequency last year and noticed there is a radio station almost 100 miles away that apparently boosted their signal now we are picking them up. I didn't have time to change my FM light up signs so I stuck with it. I noticed my transmission distance is less but I dont have any static when in front of the house.

I do not have experience with that brand but there a couple of things you can try....

Move the transmitter to a different location (in the event there are nearby electronic devices creating the static)

Try to get it near a window

Boost the signal based on what I read int his thread... http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=23799&forum_id=80&highlight=boost+signal

Look at your documentation. It will list the frequencies your tranmitter can use. Dial around on your car radio to these frequencies and find the one that is the most quiet...least noise and broadcast signals. Set the dip switches on the transmitter for that frequency. See if it helps with the noise.

1st - take it into your car and try it in there, see if it is clear or static.
it should be clear with it right there in your car.
if it does, try it on a different frequency, and also try it on batteries to see if that changes things.
If you can not get it clear from inside the car, there is something wrong with the unit, My first one had a hum when it was on anything other than battery.
assuming that it is clear in the car, then:
2) Have you connected the antenna wire up to it and trimmed it to the correct length?

3) re-locate it. I put mine in a plastic outdoor box, and ran (2) 25 foot headphone extension cords to it in order to get it close enough to the street, works great now.

I just wanted to thank you all for your help.

My transmitter works great now thanks to your advice. I changed the frequency from 104.1 to 91.3 and my reception is crystal clear. I also move the transmitter to a different location so the antena goes up the eave of my roof. And I also peeled the white sticker away and flipped the switch as well as trimmed the antena length.

So I'd like to give a big THANK YOU!!!!!! You all literaly saved my display : )
