Delays

Is there a such thing as a delay I can place between items/strands to make them go off in a delayed fashion, thus saving myself channels. Here's what I mean: I have 10 candy canes (plugged into each other in sequence) that I have on one channel. I would like them to chase, but I only have 16 channels. Is there any kind of hardware I can buy that would create a delay between the time they do a particular action? Hopefully that was somewhat coherant.

I'm sorry, but all I know of is something like this, http://www.activemusician.com/item--MC.RSP844, and I think more LOR channels would just be cheaper. I'm sure someone would know how to build your own relay, but I haven't ever seen anything like it online.

I have heard of people modifying chaser light controllers ( the ones you buy in stores) to do what you want to do. for what its worth

Good Morning! I'd like to preface this with a shout out and Thanks to all our armed forces serving our country today and everyday.

To answer your question, no I have not seen anything commercially available to do what you want to do. Now having said that I can think of a couple of ways to do this. But youre going to end up hiring someone to make up a proto board. Basically its an adjustable timing circuit using some fairly standard IC chips and solid state relays. Not terribly sophistciated for a peson familiar with circuits but buying another controller would be less expensive, or if youre feeling up to it, a controller kit.

Not completely sure that I understand exactly how you want this to work, but I have used Delay on Make or Delay on Break Timers/Relays before. Some can be had for around $5-10 on ebay. Search around as there are many variants for diffent voltages and different timings/timing ranges. (some are adjustable, some fixed)
