One Controller not reacting consistently

CTB16D ver.4.01 is one of 4 controllers I have on my display. All four controllers appear in the hardware utility, but this particular one is being fussy. When I run through the sequence of channels, some channels won't come on and others won't shut off. I run through the sequence several more times and the on/off status varies on every channel of that controller.

Even when I play my "show" from the sequence editor, the channels on this controller misfire. Makes the arches look crazy.

Any thoughts on what I need to do?

I have another controller connected to this bad boy and it works fine; so I'm assuming it is not my connection.

Thanks!

Some quick thoughts:

Try resetting the controller (see manual for instructions)
Does it function correctly from the Hardware Utility?
Is it only circuits with LEDs that are acting up?
Do you have any fluorescent light in or near your display (even CFLs)

I'll try resetting - thanks.

2. It does not function properly in the Hardware Utility

3. There are no LEDs on the controller

4. There is a CFL about 30 feet from one of the other controllers - what is the effect?

Thank you

Have you tried changing the CAT 5 to this controller?

The unit is hooked up wirelessly as are 2 others - but there is another controller piggybacked to this one via CAT5 that is operating correctly.

Wireless #1 <-- CAT5 -- #4

Wireless #2

Wireless #3

#1 is the problem child.

Out of my 13 controllers 12 are pc controllers and the 13th is a CTB16D.Try reassigning the controller as unit 01 again.I have had to do this twice already when the power was shutoff.I have a hunch this may solve your problem.I added this controller with an animated santa. When the controller looses its identity the santa mouth goes crazy and its not even turned on in the sequence.

Look at the Cat 5 receptacles closely, the 8 wires inside the receptacle should all be in a straight line not staggered.

Had a friend with with 2 controllers doing the same thing.

Had to replace 3 of the 4 receptacles to fix the communication issues.

What caused this way trying to remove the booted Cat 5/6 cables in cold weather.

just a thought.

I was going to say check to make sure all the chips are firmly seated on the board but it looks like you already solved it.
