Revamping Mini Strings

Recommended Posts

What a task!!! I've been going through my lights all morning, testing and fixing my mini light strings. I've probably pulled and replaced about 300 mini lights, and my fingers are cursing me right now!!!

I wish I had the $$$ to replace all of them with new LED's, but 25k lights would cost a pretty penny. I've been picking up LED's a little bit here and there, and hope to get some great deals at after Christmas sales. In the mean time, the long tedious way of making what I have do the trick, will have to suffice...

I think I'll start numbing the finger-tip pain with some Miller Lite....WOO-HOOOOO!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

If you are removing replacing in your effort to find bad bulbs. There is an easier way. It is called Light Keeper Pro. They are in stores now. Very easy to use. However, will not work with LED lights.

Ya, I've got a Light Keeper Pro, but these strands are ok, just several bad bulbs in each strand...So, the shunt did it's job, the good bulbs stay lit...Just yanking out the bad one's and replacing them with bulbs from a "sacrificial strand"...

I have been successful in using a small pair of diagonal wire cutters to get down in the groove between the socket and the lamp base. This is helpful to save the fingers. Also, Light Keep Pro the metal piece on the front end is to there to aid in getting lamp bases out of the sockets.

Especially if the bulb is broken, or just for difficult ones, I find that I like the small wire cutters better than the LKP bulb puller.. It just gives you that grip and enough handle to get the job done.

HAHAHA!!!!

Anyone else tried to pull a broken bulb with the strand still plugged into the outlet? That'll wake you up a little!!!! But, you'll not make that mistake again...

ZZZZZZZZap!!!
