csf
So I was looking at the ENTTEC - DMX USB PRO (looking to experiment with controlling LOR shows through software based dmx consoles) and I came across that ENTTEC now has LED Light strips.http://www.enttec.com/index.php?main_menu=Products&pn=72001&show=description&name=aleph1seriesHas any one given them a try or know some one that has?65$ for a 3ft RGB LED pre built light strip really does not sound that bad, I just wonder how much light it gives off. Also ENTTEC controls for them are a bit pricy... but since there 12vdc I can't see why we should not be able to drive them with a LOR DC card. JBullard
You did notice that your link is to an INDOOR use only fixture?
csf
I put 15 rainbow floods in clear plastic florescent light protection tubes and they worked fine for Halloween so I would think those tubes would work perfect for these too.My only concern is that each strip has 4 wires1) red negative1) green negative1) blue negative1) positive wire for all three colorsCan the LOR DC board handle this or do I need to wire 3 positive wires to the one positive wire coming out of the light to feed to the LOR DC board, or can the DC board not handle this at all.Just want to make sure I can actually run these lights with an LOR DC board. On a LOR DC card the positive wire is common to all the channels in that bank. With that in mind then yes you will be fine. These are the ones I use. Look at the waterproof versions on this page, work great with the LOR DC controllers.http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Flight_bars-flexible.html

I knew that the AC cards had common neutrals but I was unsure about the dc cards and I didn't want to make the wrong assumption. Thanks for the help, stile a bit new at this. Thanks also for the link to the LED strips, they look rather nice, and are quite a bit cheaper, I think I will be adding a few to my display for next year. edvas69
The link below is what i have used and is far cheaper than the strip shown and is a perfect replacement for rope lights. It is constructed of solid silicone (IP68 rated) and RGB 5050 LED working with a 12vdc supply so it can be controlled with LOR DC boards. The light dispesion is great even at greater than 180 degrees. i have 75 metres of this from Ray Wu in China and im am very impressed with the quality, colour and light output. I put this up over the weekend on my roof line and i am very pleased, in fact it passed all my expectationThis is 30 LEDs/m compared to 60LEDs/m but i can tell you the 30LED/m looks great and a 5 metres length can be supplied by using Cat 5 cable and 3 channels for your LOR DC board to the create any colour you wanthttp://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/701799/209843764-329544925/5m-one-roll-5050-SMD-30LEDs-m-led-strip-waterproof-by-silicon-tubing-and-coating-RGB.html
