Rope Light Installation

I have 2 strings (green & red) going around my landscaping timber and am wondering about mounting them together with tie-wraps and then mounting to the timbers. Anyone know if mounting them right next to each other ( like this = ) will be an issue? Sure don't want it failing due to heat.

Thanks!

I've mounted rope light like that in the past without problems. But then, heat build-up just isn't a problem we have to deal with in these parts during the winter...

It shouldn't be an issue. They get quite warm, but can I assume they will both not be on at the same time?

Even if they are, incandescent ropelight should not generate enough heat to cause premature failure, as long as there are only one or two other ropes next to it. The only time you get into significant problems is when you light up a 100 or 150 ft roll, while still coiled up!

I use 150 ft or so of tie wrapped red, green and blue rope to outline the overhang of my roof. Used to be incandescent, but it has now been replaced with LED to save electricity. Never had any heat related issues with the incandescent.

and remember, it's probably not on all the time, on/of, on/off with the controllers, so it's wont heat up enough to matter.. besides.. Arlington isnt exactly Phoenix.. (grew up in Clarendon, Garfield and Wilson)
