steve synek
Is there a posting on how to set up multiple networks? I hope I am asking the right question. I am reading that multiple networks may be needed due to the ribbons. I will have 6 ribbons and 16 x 16 channel controllers set up this year. I ran 3 ribbons and 14 controllers using a USB485B booster last year without any problems. Do I have to have any special equipment to set up multiple networks. Do I have to change any settings on the programming? Thank in advance for any input.Steve
Don
So, a quick run-down of some information.1) Each network will need it's own USB485 adaptor.2) Look under "Edit -> Preferneces -> Network Preferences" to set the networks.3) Modify your channel grid to place the controllers on the various networks. (Channel Property Grid may be the easiest.)4) Don't get confused when hooking them up! If you need more information, just holler. The above information, though, will get you going. steve synek
Thanks DonI did some poking around and I think I understand the basics now.I will fire up the show on one network and see how it goes. I do have a regular and a booster usb adapter, so it sounds like I won't need any additional parts to make this work should I go to multiple networks.I won't be set up for another two weeks. Doesn't look like it would take very long to split my controllers to 2 separate networks.Again........thanksSteve
Ponddude
I will say that I think you should be OK with just one network. LOR's protocol is fairly stable and robust. It can usually handle big shows like yours. However, I don't have that many CCRs (I actually don't have any) so I don't know. The only reason I have 2 networks is because the d-Light Firefli units I have really are not all that stable and can't handle being on the same network as the rest of the controllers. They are on seperate networks too (and I still have a pixel that will pop on, now and then). I just recieved my order for 3 more firefli's. One of the controllers was DOA . After 2 days of dry runs in my garage 2 of the pixel strings failed:(. I am ready to pull my hear out! I wonder if the CCR's are more stable and reliable than the Firefli's?Just "VENTING"Dave

plistumi
I use a Showtime director. Does that mean I would have to use the computer instead were I to use multiple networks?
