Kathy Byrd
I got a new laptop with NO serial port; so of course could not plug in the "special LOR adaptor" that goes with the LOR boxes.I went to radio shack and bought a serial/usb adapter and installed it according to the instructions. It shows that com 3&4 are being used but all others available.I turned off the LOR enabler icon in the right side of the tray (by the clock) have no shows scheduled to run and am not running any other LOR programs that would interfere with finding the com port.I plugged in the LOR unit to the power and to the cat cable and plugged the cat cable to the serial/usb adapter and tried to find the box with the hardware utility. Nothing...Looked around here, and saw someone mentioning a utility/software that came with the plug...but dont know exactly what they're talking about...as got my LOR suite program so long ago, I forgot if I got a program to make that little plug work...dont know what else to do...Thanks for your help! Thanks!Kathy in Louisiana
LightORamaDan
This is a copy of the reply to your PM.Kathy,There is no disk or drivers for the SC485 adapter. We need to understand which port is the adapter that you purchased.1. Stop all LOR programs.2. Unplug the USB/Serial Adapter3. Run the LOR Hardware Utility Program and look to see which comm ports are available in the manual drop down (top right).4. Stop the LOR Hardware Utility Program (exit from it).5. Plug in the USB/Serial Adapter.6. Start the Hardware Utility Program and look at the Manual Drop Down... A new Comm port should have appeared and that is the one you want.Let me know how it goes.Dan
