on the other hand, they are of course running a business so it wouldnt be out of line for them to charge me for the part if I broke it.

I've had two or three occasions where I wrote support to see about purchasing parts to replace broken parts and all times they have sent the items for free. Hands down LOR is *the* best company I've ever dealt with.

Just and FYI on this. Once you get it fixed, run a bead of hot glue along the top of the cat5 connector and the circuit board.

I also zip tie all cat5 cables to the controller enclosure as well in case they get tripped over.

Jeff I absolutely 150% agree, They are great folks, I just dont think it is fair to assume that all repair parts should or would be free. Thats the only point I was trying to make.

My first thought was - I could really use an extra couple Triacs, maybe a com chip.

Then I thought - well I should probably just order an extra kit.

Then I thought - If I have an extra board lying around - I will just find 16 more things that I CANT LIVE WITHOUT in my show.

Now I'm back to thinking an extra Triac would be good to have.

I picked up a couple of 8 channel controllers a few years back. those are my emergency ones. just program them to the same controller number and I am back on the air.

I had one plug get pulled one year. It worked as the last on the chain for the year.

I always have a spare board on hand just in case. Luckily I just found it yesterday while digging for other parts. B)

They are also available from Mouser for less than $1 each

To keep from pulling them out, you might try this adapter, it is weatherproof, and will mount to a controller box allowing you to remove the cat5 cable without touching the controller board.
