timmy
This is my first year with LOR, and I am using a DELL laptop for my dedicated show computer. It is running Windows 7. What are some tips to make sure I turn off or disable in order to ensure as problem free of a show as possible? Thanks in advance for all responses. Victory402
With lap tops you want to disable the sleep option. I think it's listed under your power saver options. I disable my screen saver too.
WhitePlainsNY
Turn off automatic Windows Updates which will restart the laptop automatically. Make sure the laptop doesn't go into sleep mode.Chuck
timmy
I turned sleep mode and screen saver both off. I thought I had disabled the auto updates but it just asked me to restart to finish updating. I guess I got to dig a little deeper to find out how to completely disable it.I just found the "never check for updates" Is this the option I want? Of course, it says it's not safe when you turn it off.
ainsworth
If you don't let your laptop connect to the internet while running your show you don't have to worry about it.One thing to check for is anything the computer might do that will make a noise. Again, if you don't let it connect to the internet you are pretty safe.
iresq
Just turn off your wireless antenna. Windows is not the only software that auto updates. I also change the screen closed option to allow for operation with screen closed.
Dave Batzdorf
make sure you turn off all sounds. If you are using it during a show, the PC sounds will be transmitted.
timmy
I set the lid closed option to nothing. I think thats what it says. I will check that and will definitely turn wireless off.
texascop
You might want to disable any anti-virus scans. They will suck up CPU when they start.
Max-Paul
Sure everyone remember sleep, but what about hibernate or did they do away with that option?
timmy
Hibernate is still an option on mine and I made sure to turn it off as well.
