Guest wbottomley
Here's a very cheap reason why you should back up all of your music and sequences. If you don't cash in on this deal, you'll have no excuses at all!Newegg has a 120g WD portable hard drive for $25 with the coupon code (EMCYTZT199).I bought one and really like it.Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136606&nm_mc=EMC-GD102310&cm_mmc=EMC-GD102310-_-EMC-102310-Index-_-ExternalHardDrives-_-22136606-L0B&AID=10446076&PID=361116&SID=FW980mae
Surfing4Dough
Though I understand that Mountainwxman was going for the lowest overall price, this isn't such a hot deal per GB ($0.21 per GB). I personally would go with 8x the amount of storage for a little more than double the price:Seagate 1TB Expansion Desk USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Plug & Play $59.99 ($0.06 per GB)http://www.frys.com/product/6002228Or if you don't want to buy online, you can always get this as Sam's (regular price):WD My Book Essential - 1 TB External Hard Drive for $98 ($0.10 per GB)http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod860345&navAction=I heavily agree that now is the time to backup your work, and appreciate the reminder. -klb-
Or locally, and accessible to all, Walmart usually has 320G Seagate, with preinstalled autorun installing backup software, for $69... And 500G for about $79...
Don
Or, you could take the 'extreme' route, and backup your sequences off-site. There are a number of free solutions, as well as paid solutions, that you can use.Free would be DropBox. They will give you 2GB of free online storage. (Want an extra 250MB free? Use this link. Disclaimer: Yes, I benefit from that link.)There are also software packages that work with Amazon's S3 (Simple Storage Service) that you can use to backup your sequences (and entire computer.) With these solutions you pay for the software and the disk space. Your backup/restore options, however, are greatly improved. If your interested in this route, shoot me a PM, and I'll give you the name of two software packages that I've used.Course, if you don't want to do all that (and I can't blame you if you don't) at least do what others are recommending and go get an external drive. I forgot about that service, as well as Mozy.(I've seen this for years now, someone loses their sequences and has no backup. Please, everyone, backup your work!) TJ Hvasta
Aside from backing up everything with an external drive, I just go with a thumb drive.. even a 256mb size is enough to backup the LOR folder.. As many 2, 4 or 8gb drives can be had for as little as $10-$15, how can you -not- have a cheap backup option for your LOR folder?
Guest wbottomley
Newegg has dropped the price to $20 w/free shipping.
