jimswinder
I have been wanting to get a video of me setting up my Weber Tree since BEFORE summer...but "life" got in the way.I made my Weber Tree Collapsible, because it is going on the top of my roof (see pic below) and there was no way I could make a 20' Weber Style tree on top of the roof.It is 9,600 C6 LED lights and 96 Channels. The lights are tie-wrapped to 24 individual lengths of braided string.I used braided string so the tie wraps could actually go THRU the string..that way the lights would stay in place when it is collapsed.I use two winches, one on each side of the mast .I had one, but it would pull the tree to one side and start bending the top mast...and the strings need to be pulled very tight to get the shape of the tree back.So here it is...http://vimeo.com/15934905And here is some video of it in action...though the video is HORRIBLE!!! I need a decent camera that can take night shots so I get some color out of it. And I could not get far enough back in my yard to get the whole tree in one shot.http://vimeo.com/15937804Feel free to comment and make suggestions on how to improve the concept!! amcdonald307
My first suggestion is I suggest you tell me how you got those lights on there pre-wound like that? Lol - that is seriously awesome. Please - do gush in more detail on some of the particulars of your build. I have a real interest in this and was just working on my mega pole today. toddmoon
I am just curious how much time it took you to string the lights up?I am going to build a 16 channel webber tree and I would like to have some idea of how long it is going to take me.Awesome job! ainsworth
Great job. I hope you don't have to put it up in a "sandstorm" hahaha
Guest Don Gillespie
Looks great Jim, I think it took you 25 minutes and 7 seconds to put it up, I was going to throw one together but if it takes that long to put up I just don't have the time.Really this is unreal great job the tree looks fantasic, see what hard work does it pays off big time I am sure the traffic is going to be crazy at your place this year. jjdurrant
I like it.. I don't think it would work on my property though.. I have two huge trees right in front of my house.

toddmoon
I have a couple of huge trees on my property as well. When I started measuring and figuring how many lights it would take to string them it became much simpler to build my own tree. This year I am starting with just 16 channels. 96 channels would look awesome but that will have come later. I am stretching to just get 16 channels together this year. Building my own tree allows me to have better control of the light strings and setup and take down will be much simpler that trying to rig them to my trees.
