ryebred
I am all prepared with everything I need to start setting up my display in about 3 weeks or so except for enclosures for my two CCR's. I am at a loss for what would be best to use for this purpose. The CCRS will be towards the front of my display and since the lines are not that long to the controller, I will most likely have to put the CCR enclosure somewhere on the grass. I wanted to make it look inconspicuous so I am not a fan of using trash bags or glass jars or tuperware containers. I know it will be dark but there will be enough light from the show to make them stand out. I could try to hide them behind something like the presents or the train but I was hoping someone would have a yard friendly enclosure to use for the CCR's that wouldn't be too much of an eye sore. Any ideas?
ryebred
Does anyone put their CCR's controllers out on the grass at all? My main concern is with moisture. We don't get snow here in California but we get a lot of rain and the sprinklers come on still during the winter. Lots of dew and sometimes frost in the mornings. I could try to really seal the enclosure but then I worry about condensation inside. I could have a drain hole on the bottom but then I worry about a lot of morning dew wafting up to the inside of the enclosure. Is there a way to maybe extend the line on the CCR that goes to the controller so that I could place it somewhere else that is a bit dryer, like in the garage? Ed P
In your initial post you said you don't like tupperware type containers.I use those clear deli tubs that Hillshire Farms use to put their sliced deli meat in.I flip them, put the power supply and controller in them, cut out the top for the cables in and out, put a stake in ground and zip tie the container to it.I have rain and snow and need the protection. It is a very small package and I don't find it objectionable.
ryebred
I guess the key to having them on the grass would be to elevate them so the enclosure is not sitting directly on the ground. If I could fit both controllers and their power supplies in one enclosure then I could mount it to stakes and put my "Tune to" sign on the back of it facing the street. This would make it look a bit more inconspicuous.
George Simmons
I think you're headed in the right direction - a see-through container of some type mounted on the back of your sign. That way you can check periodically for any moisture build-up.
PMC
Here is my CCR ribbon mounted on a flag pole and the controller is mounted in a Light-O-Rama outdoor controller case, I Drilled through the top of the case and mounted is my FM Transmitting Antenna, this year I'm using a Performance Teknique FM Transmitter mounted in the controller case with the CCR ControllerThis pic shows that you have plenty of room to mount 2 controllers for your CCR's Attached files
