transfering files from one computer to another

I am going to design my shows on a computer on my desktop. I then want to transfer files to a laptop that will run my show. Is this possible? and if so which files do I need to transfer from one file to another. Are there any other issue I need ot worry about? I could also connect via my home network from my desktop to laptop and transfer files this way.

I think there have been other threads in this list on the topic but basically sure you can. I design on one computer and use another to run the show.

You need to transfer the sequence (the .lms file) and the music (if the music isnt on both computers)

Once you transfer the sequence you will need to re-establish the link between the sequence and the music since the path is likely different. Do that by Edit-->media file and save after you point to the new location for the music.

You should make sure both PCs are running the same version of the software.

One tip, I include the date in the name of each sequence because it is easy to get mixed up when you have sequences on more than one PC.

One way to avoid having to do this would to be using the same folders on both computers. This way when you copy a sequence from Computer A to Computer B, the paths are the same, and LOR will know exactly where to find things.

If you need to reset the folder you are using for sequences/audio you can run the LORPost.exe program (in your Program Files directory.) While I've used this program for years without issue, I would always suggest one use caution (and have backup) when doing so. This program, by the way, is the same one you see when you set up LOR for the very first time.

Excellent idea. After keeping track of different folders for 2 years, I finally made a C:Light-O-Rama folder on all computers that I use.

Like Don wrote, I use the same directory structure on each machine.

I use C:LOR-Data and have a subdirectory for each year.

Makes it painless to update from one to another.
