jmraider
If I use the MP3 Director (MP3D), are the audio outputs on the MP3D all I need to hear the music or do I need to connect an amp to the outputs of MP3 Director, then connect my speakers.I understand if I use my computer to run the show, that my audio card in my computer will power the speakers to hear the music.I guess I am a little confused on how the music is matched to the light show. -klb-
Actually, for either the MP3 director, or the PC, about all it will drive by itself is a pair of headphones. You can use amplified speakers with either the MP3 director, or the PC, or you can use a cable to feed the signal into either an amplifier, or a FM transmitter, or both. But don't expect your sound card to drive speakers you will be able to hear at all well.
Surfing4Dough
You will need to amplify the sound for speakers (probably for both PC output and mp3 output). If you are connecting a FM transmitter to your output, what some do is use a boombox outdoors for your speakers--set to your transmitted station (thus creating a "wireless" connection). ChrisBMacon
What about surround sound from your audio card on your PC? Is that a big deal?

gizmomkr
I'm familiar with the Sonos Product, and Yes, that would work fine, you just need to feed the audio out from the MP3 Director to the Aux / Line in jack on the back of the Sonos zone player , then pick the "Aux input" from the list on the software controller. The Zone Player S5 and the 120 have the amp built in.
