jjdurrant
I am going to be making three 7ft pole trees per this method:http://www.landolights.com/main/content/view/81/39/Problem is I cannot find any reasonably priced or in stock tent stakes locally. I need 48 stakes. Any if I buy bulk online the minimum is 100ct. Any ideas on how else I could stake the lights into the ground? Thanks!

Anthony in Houston
I use the the suspended ceiling tile support wire. Cut it to the length you want and bend a hook on the end.Anthony

GS
Plant your center pole. Measure out the outer ring diameter (I like to attach a string to a can of dark spray paint). Drive 8 solid stakes into the ground at a 45 degree angle around the diameter (put a rebar safety cap or pvc cap on top of the stake in case anyone falls on it). Pull tight, a vinyl coated steel wire around the stakes. Secure overlapping ends with 2 wire clamps. Infinite connection points for your strings. Works for 7' 12', 20', 30'+ pole trees. This would be over kill for just a few strings, but I like a lot of lights on pole trees. For small pole trees, a 3/4" grey pvc ring works too. grodq
I use spikes (really big nails), the 10" ones. Drive them in at a angle and they stay put. My technique is here - http://www.neverenoughlights.com/Projects/Trees/index.htmlDescriptions are on each picture.
Guest Don Gillespie
Well I didn't think this was possible but here it goes in Canada we spit on the wire and push it into the ground about an inch when the weather turns to -35 below the wire is set untill mid July when we can pull them out,Actually I use wire stakes that you can purchase from any hardware store for lawn and garden stakes seems to work really wellPS I am running out of spit

I sure hope it holds off snowing up where I live until I finish setting up.My Charlie Brown tree does not need pegs but I need 32 hook style screws. Since the 1 32 channel tree needs to go on my front deck along with 1 32 channel Marty Fan.My Charlie Brown Tree is 11ft high with an 8 ft base & that worked well for me. I usually like my yard well balanced but I need to put 1 40 channel Marty Fan on the ground.

Dad02
You might have to bite the bullet on this one and get them from Wal-mart, great part is I use them for camping too so it works out.http://www.walmart.com/ip/COLEMAN-TENT-STAKES-ABS-9/13848618
jjdurrant
I think I am going to go another direction and pick up another set of LED lawn lights.. My LED mini-trees are going to be the star of the show this year. I don't want other trees in proximity stealing their thunder!
