mikehorrocks
Ok, is there anyone that has an idea on how to mount the LOR boxes against a garage wall. I have the outlets and everything ready to go and I just need to mount the boxes. Is there a bracket that works well, is there mount at Lowes, other ideas??Also is there any heat issue with the LOR boxes. I have never kept mine on for more than an hour or two, while I am testing, so do I need to allow for venting or do they get hot..I know that may be a stupid question...sorry.Also thanks for all the hints on Menards for cords. They were out, but they wrote me a rain check for approximately 200 (not sure I will need that), so when they come in I can get them.
George Simmons
My method isn't legal, nor is it even safe if there are young kids around probably, but since I don't have that problem I don't care. You might. I mounted my cards (with heatsinks) in the garage directly to a piece of plywood and then screwed the plywood directly into the wall. I blow the dust off them in November and they work fine.
mikehorrocks
So you do the cards? I have the complete metal box setup. Do the cards get a little hot...I am assuming they don't... or if they do the boxes should protect me well enough.

simcole
I screw mine to a scrap piece of plywood and lay them on the ground. I close the garage door on the extension cords and then engage the garage door lock so that it can not be lifted. This keeps anyone from pulling my extension cords and retrieving the box. This also keeps the crowbars from lifting my garage. It's not elegant but it works great.
Guest guest
I'm still finalizing a design, but looking at mounting outside, in a corner of my landscaping, hidden, on a pedestal kind of mount, using broadband enclosure (whatever that ditributor website is..) type enclosures. My power will be fed from an unused 60A circuit indoors, thru a dryer vent, out to the boxes.I am truly out in the boondocks, have not had theft/vandalism issues in the past, so cautious but not concerned re theft of LOR boxes. In Canada we spit on the back of the controller and stick it to a metal post if you don't think this works come up here when its -35 below and put your tongue on a metal post and then very quickly try to take it off the post, bet you can't. Steven
I screw mine onto the back of the city tree:...or a bush:...or sometimes just in the middle of the lawn:
TJ Hvasta
Last year I had two controllers (in plastic boxes) screwed to the wall inside the garage, another controller box mounted at the base of my megatree..This year I added 5 more controllers this year, two will join the two in the garage, two will be placed behind bushes for my arches and the last will probably be a spare. As for not having them in any enclosure, not sure if I'd do that. Maybe if they were lo-voltage boards..The boxes mounted in the garage were drywall-screwed into studs, tho I like the idea of mounting them to a backerboard.. means not having to find the studs for each case..
