IF im currently running one 16pc controller now and im gonna be adding the same one again, but just running a cat5 cable from one to the other, is the 2nd controller gonna count as number 2 in my sequences or is it just gonna continue to like unit 1 circuit 17 being its kinda be like jumping instead of running another cat5 cable out to the 2nd box.

Controller addresses are hexadecimal. Meaning, each 16 channel unit has a different address with a new set of channels.

It will be "unit" controller 2. You will have to change the controller ID to 2 with the hardware utility(if it is a PC controller). If you bought it new from LOR it will come set as controller ID 1. If you hook your cat5 cable to it and power to it and lights, without changing the controller ID it will mirror (do the same thing) your existing controller 1.

Does it matter where the number controller is in the chain?

Also, can I number my 1602's starting with 01 and my PC controllers starting with 10 and mix and match in the network?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been having a problem with my arches I have been making changes to my sequence and it does not change outside with the arches in the yard.So I turned off all 8 channels on the computer sequence but arches outside still have the same movements, they should not be on at all.I think maybe that my controller 2 might be playing the same as unit 1 .I bought both controllers at the same time don't remember if I set #2 up how do I check and how do I set it as #2.....thank you ,If this is the problem you have saved me a week long headache

To Set ID's :

Open the Hardware utility, connect ONLY ONE CONTROLLER at a time

Change max unit id to 10 (random number, should be plenty high)

Under 'select unit to configure' hit refresh - you should see something listed now under the 'select unit drop down.

It SOUNDS Like your unit MAY be set for ID1 allready (I'm not 100% sure, but I think PC boards are set to ID1 by default)

Use menus on bottom left to change unit ID as needed.

Still not exactly sure if this will fix your issue - You mentioned you have channels "off" in the sequencer - Even if you had 2 controllers with the same unit ID of "1" if ALL channel 1 commands were set to off, your lights would be off.

I think you should make a new sequence (5 seconds long) and put some quick short on / off commands in just to test and see it its responding propperly.

You can also post your .lms file - I think your issues are in the sequencer, (althought you would eventually need to set all the ID's for all controllers correctly)

To be safe, export and post your channel config as well.
