jjdurrant
Would you recommend M5 or 5MM? I only plan to wrap 140 lights, but maybe 210 depending on budget. Thanks!
George Simmons
M5s. The 5 mm ones are a bit too directional for my taste.
Guest guest
I'm doing M5s...my newbie experimenting definitely convinced me of that. Just got my (hopefully..) last shipment from Christmas Depot in less than a week...
jjdurrant
Cool.. M5s it is.. Does Christmas Depot have the best prices right now?
Guest guest
For the quantities I needed, and the type of lights, yea, but in no way is that saying I think they are your only choice. If you want larger quantities, based on what I read on the forum, CDI is where you want to go.I've placed two orders with CD, delivery was prompt, only complaint I had was communication from the time order is placed to when orders ship could use some improvement. I wasn't as bothered by that this time as I was with my first order.
jjdurrant
I ended up going with the 5MM.. 30 boxes of 70ct multis for $296 shipped after the PC discount.. damn good deal!http://www.environmentalled.com/LED-Christmas-Lights-s5mm/
Guest guest
Interesting..you were talking LEDs..I automatically assumed regular incadescent minis..Depending on what you ordered, yea, definitely looks like a good discount.LEDs are on the short list for 2011..I'll likely be reworking mini trees all summer cursing the decision to hold off a year.. jjdurrant
Ha! At least if you are cursing outside you will be warm. Me not so much.
Guest guest
I grew up in mid-Michigan, remember freezing my a** off helping my dad hang Christmas lights...never thought 40 years later I'd be doing it in shorts and flip flops and thinking "better go throw a couple more bottles of water in the fridge.."... jjdurrant
Funny. My family always complains we are all in MN because that's where we all live. Logically it makes sense, at least to me, for us all to move somewhere warm!

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'ce never heard of that vendor before. That in itself doesn't mean anything, but it's certainly something I'd check up on. I didn't see anything specific on the website, although I'd presume that if they're full wave they're probably dimmable. That doesn't mean they are however. After the debacle of LED's burning themselves out (and up) a couple years ago I expected to see it plainly stated that the lights are dimmable. Matter of fact they dim better than all my lights. For a 70ct string there are two rectifiers. He made a wise choice, I have the same lights for my mini's and they are beautiful! Also noted, I hooked some of these up to my Halloween display this weekend and ran them in the pooring rain for 2 nights! No hicups at all. I did make sure I sealed the female ends of the plugs with those things you put in the socket to keep babies fingers out.
