kiwixmas
hi I have just changed my 5 CTB16PC units and mounted them on wall . I changed my cat5 wiring from 568a to 568b but when i had troubles below i reverted back to 568a I now find that units 1 and 2 are not powering each channels using hardware utility ( units 3 4 5 are ok). checked fuses and ok also the led power light is full on suggesting lor hardware utility is communicating with the unit and no voltage at channel outlet.does suggest the board has died ?? ( i am not that electronically minded)any help would be great thanks in advance.
LightORamaDan
Just so that I understand,Units 1 and 2 do have the RED LED on solid when the Hardware Utility is running. If you press the REFRESH button in the Hardware Utility then all 5 unit show up in the list.If you select 3, 4 or 5 and run some tests, all channels work (All 16 work). If you select 1 or 2 and run some test, all channels do not work ( All 16 do not work).Dan

LightORamaDan
Okay...You mentioned 568a and 568b... A patch cable wired staight thru will work equally well with 568a and 568b because it remains straight thru. A crossover cable is wired 568a on one end and 568b on the other. Were the cables straight thru or cross over?I am trying to understand what could have happened. The processor is working and I have never seen all channels stop working at once like that when the processor chip is responding properly.Try reloading the firmware in one of the controllers. I am stumped here.Dan

Max-Paul
I dont know if this is related or not. But my first year I learned a few things via the hard knock school of try and learn. I found that my laptop that I was using while learning all that I could. Which has several USB ports. That if I plugged into say a port on the right side of the computer and got things working and then later came back and plugged into a port on the left side. Well it would assign a different comm port. Say I went from comm 3 to comm 4. It is important that either you use the same USB port. Or you learn what comm port the adapter is assigned to.I wonder if your problems are in part what I am describing?
