Hey all. Just bought the 16 channel starter package. Any quick tips for a new guy? I plan to get a FM transmitter as well. Recommendatiions?

The year I will most likely buy my sequences. I am not quite brave enough to do my own just yet. :)

Might want to check out http://lightoramasequences.com/ for free sequences. Most everything is going to need customized to your specific display either way, so might was well get it for free (more money to spend on future channels, more extension cords, and better FM transmitter).

I love my EDM transmitter--audio quality is unbeatable. I too have the RDS model, but there are some models below that that are cheaper. Very easy assembly (minutes) and operation.

a) Run while you can! Once it gets in your blood, its all over... Either get out NOW or expect to be overcome with the power of LOR.

B) Dont drain your 401K, you will need it one day

c) Make sure your wife understands that SHE comes first :)

d) 2nd mortgages are not such a good idea........................YET

e) Welcome to the mad mad world of blinky things...This site and these wonderful people on here, ruined me! But I love them all for it now ;)

Thanks all! Good tips! LOL!

I am off to buy the EDM transmitter.

Don't let the shipping time get you down. It could take 4 weeks to get it. : )

Welcome.

I use the Mobile Black Box 4000 transmitter, and I think you find a fair number of supporters for it on this forum.

There are some really fine and talented sequencers on here who will gladly share their sequences with you. I wouldn't go spending too much money on sequences until you see what you can get from other people. Just go over to the Sequences section and browse the threads. Also you can start a thread for a particular song that you want. More than likely you will find somebody who has done it. When I started I had a hard time getting the hang of sequencing and learned a ton from seeing what other people had done with a song.

Welcome aboard I was like you at first and bought the two sequence packages from LOR best move I made at least I had a show, from there I played with programing untill I had a grasp of what I was doing now I program lots of stuff we share with all LOR users if we are in the mood, and they all share right back you will find more info in these forums than you will know what to do with good luck and have fun.

So the LOR people don't frown upon users sharing sequences with others? Seems like they would given the lost revenue stream. :D

My guess is that the revenue from sequences is a tiny percentage of their (LOR's) total. The more you catch this bug, the more hardware you will buy. So my guess is that they want you to build up your display however works best for you. Trust me, 16ch will not last you long. Count on doubling every year (at least). Most LOR users also are pretty willing to share sequences--we are kinda like family. Obviously some people prefer not to which I understand too, but everybody's situation is different. Most understand that most sequences just give somebody a starting point for their own display. Pretty hard for a ready-to-go sequence to match your display right from the start, so you end up customizing it anyways.
