Guest guest
Hello,I have notice something interesting about the two forums. When I first started looking at this site back in December, I later Joined in January, Lights, Lights, Lights (LLL) had more topics and posts than the LOR forum. Just recently, LOR has past LLL for the first time in topics: LLL 1,080 to LOR 1,093.In Posts LLL 13,017 to LOR 9,844. Lights is still ahead, but the gap will probably continue to close. What I have surmised over the past months is this:As more newbies and veterans switch from static displays to computerized displays so has the forums.Chuck might have hard data on this.I wonder what will happen after this lighting season. Will the shift continue at an accelerated rate, continue at the same rate, even reverse a little? The more involved one gets in this wonderful hobby the more one needs to know about it. Both forums effect each other. The amps and quality of the lights determines what we can or can't do with LOR. Plus, a whole lot more variables then that.Another thing that I have been thinking about is this:A lot of us have a great deal of "book knowledge" from reading so much about Christmas lighting, but not so much practical hands-on knowledge.I have been lighting for over twenty years, but not anywhere close to the amount and variety I am going to. My learning curve is going to go way up!Keep a watch on both forums and let's see what happens!Michael B
Guest guest
I use the Recent Threads page to monitor all forums: http://planetchristmas.mywowbb.com/recent.htmlThat does require visiting PC every day or two though, so I don't miss anything. Guest guest
Indeed, LOR seems to be becoming the industry standard for this nature of lighting.

Guest guest
Lights, lights, lights! and Light-O-Rama and all the other forums each have there own uses and reasons for being. If it is a post regarding the many different type of lights then I believe it should be posted in Lights, Lights lights and if it is in regards to sequencing and not in relation to a specific type of animated product then it should be in synchronizing light shows. If it is LOR specific then it should be posted in Light-O-Rama, the same is true with D-light and Animated Lighting. Now, I am a big fan of LOR (I would recommend it to anyone) and could not be happier with the service they provide and wish every American company had their dedication to customer support, compared to the customer no service that most of us are used too. I am very happy for Dan's success and am sure that a lot of it has to do with his support of the Planet Christmas LOR forum.Back to the point of my post, I don't think it behooves any of us to compare the LOR forum to any other, I don't think it is best for our common interest to compare this to any other forum. We are all one big Christmas family here at P.C. and I for one don't want to create any animosity between the LOR users and any of the other P.C. members.BillHopefully, not flame onEdited for grammer
Guest guest
Gremler,Thanks for expressing your excellent opinion. I agree. That was not my intention by this thread. If that is what is perceived, then I am truly sorry.I just wanted to point out that it appears their is a huge shift towards animating and sequencing of lights. I should not have used just LOR. I did not intend to push one forum over another. I was making an observation about the trend in lighting.I wonder what the future holds. There are endless possibilities.Any opinions that don't include kicking me in the tushie? :]Michael B
Guest guest
Good quote Bill and just wanted to add:Each Forum compliments each other. That's why they are seperate. When used seperately but together to build/learn that special project/moment, it's a great source to bounce off of daily (hourly in my case :]), even during the off season.Planet Christmas as a whole has the power to spread the magic and does so by it's members' interaction with this chatroom.Gosh I love this place. (Ok, time for a commercial).Tom
