saynomoore Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I went to a garage sale today I was able to purchase about 30 strings of C-9's with mostly blue bulbs, and about 10 strings of mini's (multi), three lighted wreathes (24"x 24") and two lighted candles (13"x 24") it all works, some of the C-9 bulbs dont but the strings all work I paid $30.00 I think I did ok, I can use the lights, going from 16 channels to 64 this year, but now my question is how many C-9's can I put on one channel?
LightORamaDan Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 A string of 25 - C9s is probably about 1.5A... Follow the rule. (Max of 15 A per bank of 8 channels (1-8 or 9-16) and a max of 8A per channel.Dan
TJ Hvasta Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I've been checking CraigsList everyday for people having yard/garage sales, ditching old lights, props, blowups, etc.. Quite a few selling unopened boxes of minis cheap..
Cray Augsburg Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 What Dan said. And by all means, don't throw anything out. A few years ago I threw out MANY "bad" strings of minis. Last year, I really could have used the male and female plugs from each strand! Just cut them off with as much spare wire as possible. Then you can splice them where needed to make custom strings.Cray
Robert G. Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Checking craigslist is the right thing to do. They always have deals.
RickWIlliams Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 saynomoore wrote: but now my question is how many C-9's can I put on one channel?Feel free to download the Controller light Calculator at: Quartz Hill Christmas I built this a few years ago to manage all the controller/channels loads, light types, bulb count and such. I find it very useful every year designing, changing and adding to the display as it will give you immediate calculations.Hope this helps,
RickWIlliams Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Yes, I remember when a C9 was 9 Watts and a C7 was 7 Watts. Now the C9's are 7, and the C7's are 5, at least what I have in incandescents. They usually stamp the wattage right next to the voltage stamp on the very bottom screw cap by the electrical element (nipple) or around the rim of the screw cap. I had to look twice on the bulb I checked.
