MP3 Director vs PC any difference in capabilities

Using the MP3 Director, no pc, can I run a background animation ?

Can I run one show from 5-8pm and then automatically switch to a different show for 8-10pm ?

With MP3 Director is "leave lights on" between songs an option?

Maybe a better question is what am I losing using MP2 Director vs PC ?

Thanks,

Glenn

The MP3 Show Builder does not have an option for a background sequence. In my experience, there is not a way to program a background sequence (or in other words a second sequence) to run at the same time as another with the MP3 player.)

Lower left side of the LOR MP3 Tab (in the Hardware Utility) you will see this option. It's available when the "Play through Showlist one time only" and "Repeat the show" options are selected.

You can schedule show01 to run from 5pm-8pm and show02 to run from 8pm-10pm. You will want the MP3 Director selector switch to be on A. (http://www.lightorama.com/Documents/DC-MP3_Man_Web.pdf page 12-13)

The one big thing for me is that anyone in my family can run the show when I am not home when I hook up the mini Director/MP3 player. Slip in a SD card and the show begins.

I have the FM transmitter already set up so no worries there. So all they need to do is switch SD cards. They switch cards every 1.5 hours ........each card has 1.5 hours of show.

I make a small animation show (all lights on of one colour), then after the next song I have (all lights on of another colour), then I switch back and forth between colours and so on.

A small animation of all lights on gives folks a chance to take photos. 1 minute or so. Sometimes I have an SD card that plays 5 musical sequences, then all lights on of 1 colour for 15 minutes, then 5 more musical sequences, then all lights on of 1 colour for 15 minutes, and so on. (I use this idea on very cold nights when hardly a car shows up)..........like the week we had when it was -40 c or -40 F and colder.

I will use my MP3 Director unit for my normal musical shows, and my Lap Top for the shows which have video.

I do not like anyone touching my computers and so the MP3 Director unit helps. Also if we all go out to look at lights I just let the MP3 Director unit run continuously.

I like using the MP3 Director unit myself.

Dumb question of the day. I've seen references to background sequence but what is it and how would I use it?

A background sequence is a sequence that runs the full duration of your show. It is sort of running in the "background" while your musical sequences are running in the foreground. A common use of the background is to turn on inflatables and keep them up the whole show, or turn on an audio system, or turn on signs like (tune to FM 101)....

Channels that are in a background sequence should not be present in a regular sequence. For example lets say you want to control a sign which is on Unit "01" channel "01"... The background sequence should have only one channel in it and channel 01.01 should be delelted from all of your other sequences.

Background sequences are generally about 1 minute long and they will continue to loop all night. Keep them short so that if something should happen and the circuit(s) should go out they will be turned on again every minute (lenght of the sequence). If it is too short then it creates unnecessary load.
