Went into my computer, c drive, lor, sequences, and I see that several including the BAK files and some audio now are showing up in blue rather than black. Did nothing to make this change that I know of and am wondering if this is some type of problem or sign of a future problem. Yes , they still work, but wondering what happened to make them look like that. Any thoughts on this?

I wonder if that is your operating system telling you which files have not been backed up (have the archive bit set)?
I don't even get the little light bulb icon onmy lms files, using Windows 7. What operating system do you use?

Blue text normally means that the file is compressed or windows thinks it's compressed.

Did you run any utilities that attempted to free up space on your computer?

Windows xp pro, Did do a disc cleanup and defrag, but nothing else.

It most likely compressed older files.

But who really knows what windows does when we go to sleep.

As long as it no big deal, I won't worry about it, but I wanted to make sure, thanks.

i can tell you for sure 100% blue text is a compressed file in any version of windows

If you did a disk cleanup and tell the utility to compress old files - they turn blue. If you find yourself low on space you can compress your drive to make space

Thank you all.

isn't blue lettering mean its a copied file? I could be wrong.

The color will change if you have CUT a file. However I would guess that in this case those file are compressed on his drive.

The color of a file name was one of the questions on the MCSE test. Here is the official word from the mothership:

"Both encrypted and compressed files can be displayed with alternate colors in My Computer. Encrypted files are green, and compressed files are blue. Files and folders can either be encrypted or compressed, but they cannot be both encrypted and compressed."

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457116.aspx

And if you want to shut the feature off:

Control Panel > Folder Options > View. Deselect the third option from the bottom ('Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color').
