scubado Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 For Halloween I plan on being the Grim Reaper. When I point, I want to trigger a lightning sequence. How do I go about doing this?
-klb- Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 If you don't mind being wired, you can hook up a button to a trigger input...If you want to be cordless, maybe an option would be an IR remote with some sort of Ramsey kit IR receiver, that is wired to one of the trigger inputs.
scubado Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Does the DC card have a trigger input? I have a PC card and a DC card on order, so I don't know what all I can do with it yet.
George Simmons Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Do you have a partner in crime? Could he/she sit unnoticed at a window (or disguised as part of the display) with a laptop and an open sequence editor poised and ready to play?
-klb- Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I don't remember the DC card having triggers. The PC card has 2.
scubado Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 My lightning would be controlled by the DC card. If the sequence resides on the DC card, will the trigger on the PC card be able to activate the sequence?
-klb- Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Now you are getting into area that I don't normally tread.. I have only once or twice stored a sequence in a controller. Generally I use triggers against a PC controlled show, or the trigger inputs on a mini director...
jimswinder Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 If you are using a PC board, you would also need one of these:http://store.lightorama.com/ctinco3in.html
WayneKremer Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 If you have both a PC and DC board, you can use the PC board to run a sequence that would include the DC board. That's what I plan on doing with a PIR trigger this Halloween.
scubado Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 After a little bit of thought, I can't have the sequence reside on the DC card because I won't get the thunder to go with it, dah! So currently I have to wait to see what PC card I get to find out which header it has to get the input adapter. If I'm getting a brand new card, will I still need the adapter and/or will it fit the new cards?

Shubb Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 You can use a trigger on the PC card to activate a show run on the DC card.Or, what I do for my Halloween show is use a mini-director with a trigger. The sequence and audio is loaded on a SD card run from the mini director.I also use a wireless remote with several triggers that I can start different sequences. (I use several mini-directors)Some lightning/thunder, some evil laughing, and some are the pneumatic cylinders.
