Don In Kenner-LA Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hi All:I got a better computer from a friend to do my sequences on but now when I load up my sequences it tells me when I try to cut and past it tells me this sequence was created on a another computer encrypted data is there a way to fix this or do I have to go back to my old computer...ThanksDon In Kenner:(
Don Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 If the sequence was created using the demo version of the software, you will run into this issue. Even if you put in your license key later, the original sequence will remain encrypted (as best I recall).Email support@lightorama.com and ask them to help you. I recall they've been able to help license holders with this issue before.

When you install a license on that machine (has to be the same machine it was created on) then the next time you save the file encryption is removed.Dan
Don In Kenner-LA Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Hi All :I just found out what I did I transfered all my sequences to my main computer which I have the demo version running and did some editing and saved now when I put them back on my new computer with the liscend copy of S2 and now I get the encrypted bull when I try to change something. This Is Just Great I ruined 20 sequences that took me 2 years to make. there should be some warning that this will happen. I understand you have to stop people from stealing your software but this is bull hurting the ones who pay for it I know there are ways of protecting your software other than this. Now its augast and I have to start making all my sequences again Iam NOT A HAPPY CAMPER..................DON IN KENNER LA:(

Per Dan, that will most likely resolve the problem. If that doesn't work, I would encourage you to email support. Last time I checked, LOR doesn't make a habit of pulling a fast one on paying customers.
JBullard Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Don,Calm down, you may not have lost anything at all.Just install your license key on the computer that is currently running the Demo software (you can use your license on 5 computers, a very generous policy by LOR)As Dan stated, the file encryption will be removed. There have been dozens and dozens of posts here about this topic over the past year.EDIT: see there were several similar replies while I was typing
wallleyes Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I have the same thing happen when my buddy sequences a song on his unlicensed computer.I try to fix his timing mistakes on my licensed computer and it will not let me copy and paste.I will say it is a pain in the .....But the sequences are not ruined.
LightORamaDan Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 As others have mentioned, installing a license on that machine should resolve the problem. Once you have registred that demo machine, if something unexpected happens and the files are "stuck" with encryption you can send them to support@lightorama.com and have the encryption removed.Dan
Don In Kenner-LA Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Hi all:I dont mean to be angry but put yourself in my shoes all my sequences are ruinedas a sequencer you know the work that goes into each song which is 20 for me i have been working and tweaking these songs for 2 years I have calls into my friend who I gave my computer to and iam praying he hasnt wiped the harddrive yet. LOR doesnt have to change thier software but they could at least put a warning on thier web site about the demo software or at least put a warning in the demo that when you load up a sequence that this will encrypt the sequence and make it unuseable. I have no ill will feelings towards dan OR lor. I thought I was doing the right thing backing up to my other computer If I had known it would have done this kind of damage I would have back up to a data cd... So I know its my fault. So I guess untill Nov. Ill Be very busy so much for new projects.DON IN KENNER,LA:(:(

Even the owner of the company is telling you things are not ruined.Things will be fine. It will be okay. Christmas will come, and you will not lose your sequences.Email them. Please.

The encryption can be removed.Nothing is ruined, and your two years of work is safe.EDIT: On the LOR sofware page, regarding the Demo version, is this statement:Feature is active for evaluation but changes cannot be savedSo Demo software is for evaluation only, not for production! Which is why LOR allows us to install the licensed software on 5 machines
Don In Kenner-LA Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Hi All:Well My oringal Hard drive is in route to me so I will beable to restore all my sequences by today and I am putting a registered copy on my main computer so also this doesnt happen again I had no idea that using the demo would do this I just thought it would not operate the lights.Don In Kenner;)

Don In Kenner-LA Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 HI All.Dan Iam gratefull for your responce to this matter Iam not blamming LOR and yes that is what iam doing right now Iam installing a reg user on my main computer as we speak and saving the sequences I also have the oringal hard drive in route in case that doesnt work and iam sorry if I ruffled any feathers but again place yourself in my shoes when you think you screwed up all your sequences I still belive a warning needs to be placed in the demo software if you go to save a sequence it tells you that this sequence will be encrypted and must have a licsence to use it and i didnt know I had 5 seats or I would have done it long ago. Iam a newbie and still learning.ThanksDon In Kenner,LA:)

Ed P Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I will use this topic to again make a request and this time I am sending it to the wishlist too.The demo version of software should have a feature that if you open a non-encrypted version a warning pops up that says by saving back to this file it will become ENCRYPTED.
Greg Young Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I might be misunderstanding something here, but why would anyone use a demo version for more than a few weeks (to see if they like the software) without registering it???:?:?Greg
wallleyes Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I have 2 co workers helping me sequence. They email them to me when they have one done.Dont really want to waste license seats.
-klb- Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Greg Young wrote:I might be misunderstanding something here, but why would anyone use a demo version for more than a few weeks (to see if they like the software) without registering it???:?:?GregIt used to be pretty common to sequence on a laptop, or other temporary computer, that was not licensed. So there are people who are in the habit of doing it from LOR 1, with no downside. S2 catches them off guard.
